Smoked or dried lamb producer is searching for customers in Sweden

Who we are: My name is Marija. Together with my husband Antanas we breed over 400 ewes and additionally we have 500-600 lambs each year. We started in 2004 with 66 ewes, and later we expanded our flock up to 400 ewes. Mainly we breed Merino land and Finnish landrace sheep. We are both from the capital of Lithuania – Vilnius, three years ago moved to the village closer to the sea with the aim to live in the nature and practice a natural lifestyle. We do enjoy windsurfing and kite boarding.

What we do: Our policy is to breed sheep as naturally as it is possible, to have the final result of a healthy meat, healthy product. We do not have, at least yet, the eco certificate, only because the certification is very much concerned to the land, of which the most we still rent and we cannot oblige the land owner to rent us for at least five years.

At the moment, all the lambs we get, we take to the slaughterhouse until they are under one year old (this is a requirement for a lamb status in Lithuania). There, an appropriate cut is done and put into the vacuum. The slaughterhouse meets all the necessary EU requirements. We produce lamb in few ways: a fresh lamb parts packed in vacuum, hot – smoked lamb parts, light cold-smoked lamb parts, cold-smoked lamb parts and dried (withered) – lamb parts. To prepare smoked or dried lamb we take to a meat processing enterprise – which also meets the EU standards and is one of the most famous meat processing enterprises in Lithuania, therefore, the high quality of the final product we can guarantee. We do have an ability to transport the products ourselves, as we have an isothermal van, which can carry up to one ton at an appropriate temperature.

Whom we are working with: We have a wide range of private customers, restaurants, hotels, small gourmand shops and also we do have a termless contract with the one of the biggest retail chains – IKI ( www.iki.lt/index.php?lang=2 ).

What we would like to offer: We still can offer around 4 tons of the final production – smoked or dried lamb per year.
