The Joint Stock Company UAB “Švediškas būstas” started its operation in Lithuania in 2002. Our company is part of the international corporation group whose principal founders are SBV Fastighets AB (Stockholm, Sweden) and Holmbergs AB (Mariehamn, Aland Islands, Finland). Both parent companies are well known both in Scandinavian and European construction markets as reliable, trustworthy partners with long-term experience in the area of construction engineering and technologies.

The group includes another company operating in Lithuania UAB “ŠB konstrukcija” – a construction company that manufactures modular structure houses at the plant located in Klaipėda District intended for the markets of Sweden and Finland, and as of lately for the Lithuanian market.

Geographical proximity of Scandinavian countries and Lithuania results in very close climatic conditions – severe, humid and windy weather prevailing during the larger part of the year and frequent temperature changes. Resistance and resilience of buildings to impact of climate has been and still is the priority objective of housing construction both in Lithuania and Scandinavian countries. Therefore it is easy to note a great deal of similarities in building structures, selection of construction materials and even in architectural solutions.

The modular housing system, which as yet is little known in Lithuania, has caught up very fast and is widely used in Scandinavia. The very concept of modular housing is not new to Lithuanians but it rather invokes associations with cheap makeshift housing that attracts for the reason of low cost and high rates of construction but raises justifiable doubts regarding durability and reliability.

Priorities of UAB “Švediškas būstas” in terms of both strategy and technology radically differ from the mentioned modular structures. Erection of the house using several modules has been selected for the only purpose of implementation of innovative manufacturing technology, which ensures resistance, resilience and durability of housing and healthy microclimate in the house. By splitting the house design into a number of constituent parts – modules – we manufacture and equip each of them in a closed factory environment with controlled ambient temperature and humidity concentration, and upon delivery to the construction site we erect the house and start its maintenance in such manner as to preserve the microclimate created in the plant.

Everything that is used in manufacture and equipment of modules has been applied in the traditional Lithuanian building for years. Only the construction principle and technology itself are innovative. It goes without saying that certain constituent parts of the modular system that are chosen by the Scandinavians will not be accepted here in Lithuania. Historical or ethnical traditions, long -established customs, world outlook, lifestyle idiosyncrasies are the factors that we will strive to take into account to the maximum in order to ensure the quality of life answering your needs.
