The Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSE Riga) is an international higher education institution with an enrolment of approximately 450 students. The School was founded in 1994 by the Stockholm School of Economics with the support of the Swedish Government and the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science on behalf of the Latvian Government. Although located in Riga, the School was set up to support the advancement of economics and business education in all three Baltic countries, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. As of autumn 2011, SSE Riga will, with the financial support of the Swedish Government, also open up its doors to students from Belarus and Moldova.

The School’s main academic programme is the highly competitive three year B.Sc. degree programme in Business and Economics. In addition to the B.Sc. programme, SSE Riga offers an Executive MBA programme as well as various Executive Education courses. The School also has an active exchange programme and around 20-25 Erasmus students come to SSE Riga on exchange each semester.

In terms of research the School’s faculty is active predominantly in the fields of economics, entrepreneurship and finance. The School is currently involved in several EU-funded projects (e.g. 6th framework programme and INTERREG) ranging from the development of the creative industries to how to handle an aging workforce. Project partners come from all over the European Union.
